The “Guardian” photograph was taken on a trip to Mammoth Lakes, on December of 2014. Right before Christmas so you can (and should) assume it was very cold at night. For that reason all I wanted to do is stay in the room with a good heater and a hot cup of cocoa, but once I saw that tree I could’t let go.
I was facing the majestic tree and admiring it for its ability to survive so many years in weather that changes from freezing nights to hot days and for its contribution to the space it grows in, feeding and giving shelter to so many different wildlife including us, beings.
Spending about an hour, shooting outside in the freezing cold was pretty fun even though I kept looking around to see that no bares are coming to eat me.
